Honoring the last Enola Gay crew member

The only remain­ing mem­ber of the crew of the Enola Gay which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan dur­ing World War II passed away this week. Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk was born and raised in Northum­ber­land. He was 93 years old. Funeral ser­vices are set for next Tues­day at St. John’s Lutheran Church. There will be a fly­over of a World War II B-17 at the cemetary after the funeral. The plane will be on dis­play at the Sun­bury air­field where Van Kirk landed after the war was over.
